An abandoned copper outcrop, 10 terraces high showing all kinds of weathering structures.

One of the closed down copper mines in Cyprus with very visible weathering structures. The surface had time since the 1970s to change appearance. Not only by forming alteration minerals of copper and iron but also by forming unstable slopes and hard to reach mine faces. Just perfect for our HySpex imaging hyperspectral cameras. Safe for us and we’re still able to map the mine face. Thanks goes to the Geological Survey of Cyprus for granting us the access to work there!
